I spent basically a whole year doing nothing but going to school, coming home, and playing Goldeneye on mute while I listened to Homework. And then talking on the phone for a couple hours before I went to sleep. This gave me physical chills of nostalgia.

Paul Johnson's Get Get Down was the first music video I downloaded. I was somehow astounded that people would record video clips and share them online. But then I realized videos took up a lot more space than just the audio, and there was no good way to preview samples before downloading the whole bloody thing (back before YouTube, when IRC was where you got things like this). Where was I? Oh, right. Nostalgia. Thanks!

Thanks for the fixes guys! Yeah, my lyrics source was a bit dodgy, so I'd get disappointed when I'd do a search (while changing the spelling/etc) and it wouldn't come up with anything. Mostly I made this after discovering that just about every house track ever was uploaded to YT, and I started recognizing the artist names from "Teachers", so I started going through them. It provided a nice cross-section of house music in the early/mid 90's, as well as some other gems.

Some more corrections - DJ Deya should be DJ Deeon, Mark Dana is Mike Dearborn, DJ Snow is DJ Skull, Tom Allen is maybe Todd Edwards, Jerry Carter is Derrick Carter, as mentioned Dave Carter is Dave Clarke, Ashley Beedle. I'm not sure about the last Surgeon(?). He was good but there were other bigger Detroit names in that scene (Erik Martin, DJ Godfather, Assault); maybe Tony Childs or they're not saying Surgeon at all.

Helluva lot better than Eiffel 65's My Console. Sorry, I was obsessed with E65 for a few weeks in '99 after hearing that song. I listened to anything I could find, and then I realized there were better things to do with my time.

"Teachers" is a track by French electronic group Daft Punk off their 1997 album "Homework" in which they call out many influential house and techno pioneers. In a robot voice, of course.
