AtDuskGreg: which were just OpenFrameworks wrappers around the actual detection algorithm, as far as I'm aware - I don't think anyone's claiming to have come up with the original system, which I'm pretty sure was linked to from here, and I'd provide myself if I wasn't pecking at a smartphone screen.
Edit: it's liked from Kyle's Vimeo video there, but has a mac.com address. The OF examples won't compile without this code, which the author had not distributed under an open license, as far as I'm aware.comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.127242-4937952Sun, 21 Apr 2013 00:49:26 -0800davemeeBy: panaceanot

davemee: McDonald and Castro's Face Substitution used FaceTracker, a library by the researcher Jason Saragih that implements deformable model fitting for face tracking. However, FaceTracker does not provide the face copying and blending technique used in Face Substitution to combine the faces (called Fast Image Cloning which McDonald also implemented based on <a href="http://www.cs.huji.ac.il/~danix/mvclone/">this SIGGRAPH paper</a>). And, of course, FaceTracker does not provide the aesthetic idea of substituting faces, which Yahoo! app copies exactly from Face Substitution.
In the process of their work on Face Subsitution, McDonald made a wrapper for FaceTracker for the creative coding toolkit OpenFrameworks, yes (called ofxFaceTracker). McDonald also convinced Saragih to open source the work and is now the official maintainer of the library: <a href="https://github.com/kylemcdonald/FaceTracker">kylemcdonald/FaceTracker</a> (linked directly as such from Saragih's site). That work lead to a profusion of face tracking projects of varying levels of originality and interest.
This trend of advertising firms and big companies ripping of creative artists is widespread. Golan Levin gave a great presentation on the topic here: <a href="http://www.flong.com/blog/2012/new-media-artists-are-the-unpaid-research-division-of-ad-agencies/">New Media Artists are the Unpaid Research Division of Ad Agencies</a>.comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.127242-4938271Sun, 21 Apr 2013 10:10:14 -0800AtDuskGregBy: Apocryphon

I'm pretty sure there's a Shinto or traditional Japanese myth about an oni that goes around stealing faces.

¡°Why?¡± asked Larry, in his practical way. "Sergeant," admonished the Lieutenant, "you mustn't use such language to your men." "Yes," accorded Shorty; "we'll git some rations from camp by this evenin'. Cap will look out for that. Meanwhile, I'll take out two or three o' the boys on a scout into the country, to see if we can't pick up something to eat." Marvor, however, didn't seem satisfied. "The masters always speak truth," he said. "Is this what you tell me?" MRS. B.: Why are they let, then? My song is short. I am near the dead. So Albert's letter remained unanswered¡ªCaro felt that Reuben was unjust. She had grown very critical of him lately, and a smarting dislike coloured her [Pg 337]judgments. After all, it was he who had driven everybody to whatever it was that had disgraced him. He was to blame for Robert's theft, for Albert's treachery, for Richard's base dependence on the Bardons, for George's death, for Benjamin's disappearance, for Tilly's marriage, for Rose's elopement¡ªit was a heavy load, but Caro put the whole of it on Reuben's shoulders, and added, moreover, the tragedy of her own warped life. He was a tyrant, who sucked his children's blood, and cursed them when they succeeded in breaking free. "Tell my lord," said Calverley, "I will attend him instantly." HoME²Ô¾®¿Õ·¬ºÅѸÀ×Á´½Ó
