That's beautiful and also frightening. Good to see the next generation isn't slacking off on the numinous!comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025060Sun, 09 Jun 2013 06:29:42 -0800theloniusBy: KGMoney

I love that the Flickr images include the dream description. Some of these are really good. <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/rogeromar/4351233614/">This one</a> made me laugh out loud, partly because I imagined Bond shooting himself in the foot.comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025073Sun, 09 Jun 2013 07:07:17 -0800KGMoneyBy: Brandon Blatcher

I'm really sympathetic when my kids wake up from their nightmares. I can't remember what it's like, and I'm glad I don't; your first few bad nightmares must be the most terrifying, psychotic experience.comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025090Sun, 09 Jun 2013 07:37:21 -0800mhoyeBy: sio42

My earliest memory is waking up from a scary dream and standing up in my crib clutching the rails and screaming my head off. My room was right at the top of the stairs and I could see the light was on at the bottom and I remember just feeling so completely freaked out. The dream had been about my dad being taken away by giant bird things and my mom made me hide in a cupboard but I could see thru the walls somehow. I'm not sure how old I was but I'm guessing close to 3. I had incredibly vivid dreams until I was like 25. Not nightmares per se, but just freaky suspenseful bizarre disorienting episodes of dreamland.comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025102Sun, 09 Jun 2013 07:47:32 -0800sio42By: limeonaire

Oh wow, I will buy this book. I've been planning a comic based on illustrating the bizarre dreams I've been having and tweeting for the past five years, so this is definitely some of my favorite territory.
The one where Death is searching for his daughter is chilling!

This reminds me of a photo book I had by Arther Tress, "<a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000IZY238/metafilter-20/ref=nosim/">The Dream Collector.</a>" He photographed children reenacting their dreams. It was a wonderful book. I lost it in a flood; my own real life nightmare.

Huh. After poking around, though, I can't figure out how to buy the book, nor the book of Cuban children's dreams that's also mentioned on the site. Is there a link I'm missing?comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025127Sun, 09 Jun 2013 08:31:29 -0800limeonaireBy: taz

Limeonaire, I was looking for it too (spent quite a bit of time googling around), but didn't find it. If I can locate it, I'll it post here.
cccorlew, funny you mention Tress; there was <em>just</em> a <a href="http://ask.metafilter.com/242540/Help-me-find-this-photography-book-on-childrens-nightmares">question about that book on Ask Metafilter</a>, and I actually did a bit of searching to see if I could find it... which seems like it would be how I came upon this, but it wasn't. While looking for something totally different (an alternative source for <a href="http://www.metafilter.com/128609/Color-Footage-Of-NYC-In-1939">this vid</a>), I found the "West of the Moon" short posted at <a href="http://robotmafia.com/">Robot Mafia</a>, and then looked up Roger Omar from the info posted on the Vimeo page for the film.comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025154Sun, 09 Jun 2013 08:47:01 -0800tazBy: dobbs

Ahh. The general gist I'm getting from poking around through the rest of the blog is that you possibly have to email Roger Omar at <a href="mailto:elmonstruodecoloresnotieneboca@gmail.com">elmonstruodecoloresnotieneboca@gmail.com</a> and/or PayPal him to purchase a given book. But I'm not sure how the shipping situation works or anything like that. I'm drafting an email in Spanish to ask more about how it works...comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025196Sun, 09 Jun 2013 09:07:50 -0800limeonaireBy: Tell Me No Lies

Oh yay! I got an email back from Roger Omar. He notes that the online store is <a href="http://elmonstruodecoloresnotieneboca.bigcartel.com/">here</a>, where the books <i><a href="http://elmonstruodecoloresnotieneboca.bigcartel.com/product/fear-of-green-book-of-dreams">Fear of Green</a></i> and <i><a href="http://elmonstruodecoloresnotieneboca.bigcartel.com/product/pack-of-3-accordions-including-derek-m-ballard">Today I Will Eat You Princess</a></i> can be purchased. He also recommends the <a href="http://elmonstruodecoloresnotieneboca.bigcartel.com/product/pack-of-3-accordions">accordion stories</a> (also viewable on the <a href="http://6dreams.tumblr.com/">6 dreams Tumblr</a>), especially <a href="http://6dreams.tumblr.com/#23498475687">"Blue Desert" ("Desierto Azul")</a>. I just put in an order for, well, everything.
He said he definitely has noticed a lot of visits from MetaFilter in his blog stats and asked for more info; I'll let him know about this post and how to join!comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5025472Sun, 09 Jun 2013 12:17:28 -0800limeonaireBy: limeonaire

I may be in a dream. I came from San Francisco to Mazatlan to spend some time with the in-laws. I was watching a 3 month old baby moving her hands in her sleep and wondering what her little dreams could be like. I was watching the baby while wrapping in newspaper <a href="http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alebrije">alebrijes</a>, which are literally physical manifestations of mounstros de colores from a fevered man's dreams. Someone yelled 'Omar' out in the street. I went to close the window and there I picked up my tablet and rtfa.
So many coincidences mean I have to get this book.
If Roger shows up here I will offer to trade one of his books for a ballena Pacifico fresh from the brewery and aguachile y pulpo para picar from El Toro.comment:www.metafilter.com,2013:site.128892-5026540Sun, 09 Jun 2013 23:32:30 -0800Doroteo Arango II
¡°Why?¡± asked Larry, in his practical way. "Sergeant," admonished the Lieutenant, "you mustn't use such language to your men." "Yes," accorded Shorty; "we'll git some rations from camp by this evenin'. Cap will look out for that. Meanwhile, I'll take out two or three o' the boys on a scout into the country, to see if we can't pick up something to eat." Marvor, however, didn't seem satisfied. "The masters always speak truth," he said. "Is this what you tell me?" MRS. B.: Why are they let, then? My song is short. I am near the dead. So Albert's letter remained unanswered¡ªCaro felt that Reuben was unjust. She had grown very critical of him lately, and a smarting dislike coloured her [Pg 337]judgments. After all, it was he who had driven everybody to whatever it was that had disgraced him. He was to blame for Robert's theft, for Albert's treachery, for Richard's base dependence on the Bardons, for George's death, for Benjamin's disappearance, for Tilly's marriage, for Rose's elopement¡ªit was a heavy load, but Caro put the whole of it on Reuben's shoulders, and added, moreover, the tragedy of her own warped life. He was a tyrant, who sucked his children's blood, and cursed them when they succeeded in breaking free. "Tell my lord," said Calverley, "I will attend him instantly." HoME²Ô¾®¿Õ·¬ºÅѸÀ×Á´½Ó
