This is remarkable. You could build an entire house that your family could live in for generations founded on how hard they nailed this. I can count the number of people I know who have actually watched "My Dinner With Andre" on one finger, and the idea that someone put so much effort into a joke that would land for such a small audience is just lovely. Absolutely beautifully employed "inconceivable", btw. You knew it was coming eventually, and it was perfect.

Ok so tangent/derail, but My Dinner With Andre is both fantastic and has Wallace Shawn recite a line that hit me so hard I am still feeling it: And when I was ten years old, I was rich, I was an aristocrat. Riding around in taxis, surrounded by comfort, and all I thought about was art and music. Now, I'm 36, and all I think about is money.

When I was an undergraduate some committee from the dorm rented a massive theater projection system with surround sound and summoned suggestions for what to watch. My entreaties for "My Dinner with Andre" went unheeded, and I think they showed Twister or some such nonsense.

I enjoyed this, while also enjoying the chutzpah to pay two actors to sit for 40 minutes solemnly recapping Simpsons episodes. Tyrone's best Steamed Hams up till now: Steamed Hams, but it was banned in the USSR Steamed Hams, but it's an Awful Mobile Game Ad Steamed Hams, but it's a Netflix True Crime Title Sequence I think I am correct on this.

I just skipped around because it feels like a long, long watch for what is basically one joke, but I'm impressed by the dedication it took and they absolutely nailed the likenesses. If Seymour Skinner were a real person, he would have this improbably thick hair, this rumpled suit, these pleading, desperate eyes. The actor playing Chalmers doesn't have the cartoon guy's perpetual glower, he seems more weary than nasty, but this Chalmers and Skinner both feel like they could be the real men who inspired the cartoon versions. Like, if some wiseass kid doodled notebook caricatures of these guys, they'd probably end up looking just like the characters from the cartoon. I wonder what somebody would make of this if they were never a Simpsons watcher. It might seem kind of avant-garde, this featurette where some drab guy and his boss sit in a suburban dining room and have this conversation that starts off being gossip about running an elementary school and winds through all sorts of bizarre stuff before they start arguing about whether the aurora borealis is happening in the kitchen.
