Wolf Alice featured in the second half of the T2 Trainspotting trailer late last year, which was what pulled me in. Great debut album, can't wait for the new one.

Great list, can't wait to dig into these. I saw Slothrust this weekend and they really blew me away. Everyone should catch this band live if they can. Punk energy with good lyrics and lots of guitar solos.

I also really like Dilly Dally and also I think Hop Along is indie rock's most criminally underrated band

Maybe this is TMI, but I am loving female-fronted rock these days. Especially high marks for this year go to TOPS, Chastity Belt, Fazerdaze, Hand Habits, Land of Talk, Palehound, Sheer Mag, and Tennis. Also earning quality time on the hi-fi are: Chemtrails, Charly Bliss, Jay Som, Alaskalaska, Amber Arcade, Amy O, Big Thief, Vagabon, Waxahatchee, Girl Ray, and HAIM.

I love the use of "Silk" in the T2 trailer linked above, but I wish that the part of the song used in the trailer was a bigger part of the song itself. I love the slow build-up, but it would be great if the climax was repeated a couple more times.

(I also wish more Wolf Alice stuff sounded like "Silk." I like their other songs too, but for me that track is the stand out, and it's a bit of an anomaly in their discography.)

I have also been listening to female artists and female-fronted groups almost exclusively lately. I'm especially enjoying Emma Ruth Rundle, as well as her other band Marriages, and her other other band Red Sparowes (which, granted, is mostly dudes). Also Chelsea Wolfe, and... well, really anybody on Sargent House.

Also, Warpaint. Love love love Warpaint.

I'm a huge Wolf Alice fan. I have absolutely worn out their first CD. Can't wait for Visions of a Life. Ellie Rowsell also guests on a couple of tracks on the new Alt-J album, which was a fun combination of recent favorites.

Kid Wave are excellent and when I feel bad I put the 7" of Wonderlust on very very loud and dance around for 3 minutes completely unashamed.

(they are also very good live in a sort of shy and nervous and completely adorable way)

-She Makes War, with particular favorites Cold Shoulder, Slow Down Sunshine, Minefields, Exit Strategy, and In This Boat.

-birdeatsbaby, particularly The Bullet, Feast of Hammers, Incitatus, and Tastes Like Sympathy.

-Dorothy, particularly Raise Hell and Missile.

They¡¯ve already been mentioned, but I'm convinced that the recent Chastity Belt album is a masterpiece. I don't say that lightly. Also their sense of humor is subtle but unstoppable.
Also already mentioned: Hand Habits is making some excellently crafted songs.
Sugar Candy Mountain features some really delicious guitar playing and arrangements in a retro-kitsch-psych vein.
Bleached is a blast of pure rock fun, as is Tacocat.
Wussy are great.
More somber: Emma Ruth Rundle is fantastic, as is her band Marriages.
The band Heron Oblivion is mostly dudes, but definitely animated by drummer/singer Meg Baird. They are absolutely incredible live.
Skull Diver does a great glitter/gloom combination.
On the more metal side of things, Chelsea Wolfe is wonderful, and so is Muscle and Marrow, an intense duo with some similar aesthetics.
SubRosa has spent years now being epic.

Seconding the recommendation for the new Pumarosa album (mentioned above by pipeski). It's an utterly compelling debut and I love it.

Another band I've been listening to lately that I'm surprised hasn't been mentioned yet is Black Honey.

If anyone's interested, I've got a 250-song Spotify playlist that I've maintained for a couple of years now, "Female Fronted Alternative Rock, Indie and Shoegaze, 1990s-2010s." It's already got a number of the artists mentioned here, and I'll keep adding to it over the next few days based on additional recommendations in this thread.

Mary Bell are from France with a garage-ey Kill Rock Stars sound.

Dog Party have a new-ish album out "'Til You're Mine".

No Joy released a 4 song EP this year called Creep. This is Califone, from that EP, and this is Hare Tarot Lies from an earlier album, just because it's weird and good. No Joy does noisey shoegaze stuff.

The Creepshow have a new album coming out soon because psychobilly never dies! and they've released a single from it, "Sticks & Stones".
