Did I just miss something when rebuilding this computer, or are other people seeing the same error? (I'm still installing software, so maybe I just installed my media players incorrectly?) posted by dejah420 at 8:47 AM on April 16, 2004

Dejah: it worked fine here. You could also click on the "audio" link on the front fage and then click on/open in media player the second track on the list. posted by jonmc at 8:53 AM on April 16, 2004
dejah420 - I'm getting the same error, but just change the URLs to jump straight to the wma files:

Their web server is sending the wrong content-type. Paste the link into windows media (or mplayer, or whatever.)
It's worth the effort if you can tolerate both faux-Scandanavian metal and classic rock anthems. posted by sfenders at 9:12 AM on April 16, 2004
this could have been funny. but it's not. posted by mr.marx at 9:33 AM on April 16, 2004

jonmc: I asure you I am well aware of that. I'm Swedish (and a music geek) after all... I just think the result here didn't measure up to their intentions. posted by mr.marx at 10:22 AM on April 16, 2004
Being Norwegian and all, I have to stick up for my homies. Although I'm more a fan of Scandanavian Accoustic Death Trance music, I found this to be highly entertaining. posted by KevinSkomsvold at 10:32 AM on April 16, 2004
Oh.
Would it help if I revealed that the lead singer's name is "Valhalla Ice" ? posted by jonmc at 10:35 AM on April 16, 2004
Danke Jazon, that worked beautifully. :) The songs are a hoot. Jonmc, you're my new favorite viking. ;) posted by dejah420 at 10:49 AM on April 16, 2004

It's one of my biggest regrets, that I didn't learn the history of Scandinavian death metal. But I sent it to the drummer from Conquest of Steel, who has actually sat in a tent somewhere near Trondheim listening to a whole weekend of music from that thrilling genre, and he pronounced it "funny". posted by Pericles at 12:07 PM on April 16, 2004

A bit. ;)
My main objections are a) the viking analogy doesn't hold up, and if it did Manowar have already done it, b) even though they try to make scandinavian metal vocals, they still sound like fucking Slipknot, and c) the tacky casio-backgrounds are not well done nor funny.
Btw (possible threadjack, sorry), jonmc, do you know if there is any truth to the rumour that ex-Kiss guitarist Vinnie Vincent has had a sex change? posted by mr.marx at 12:16 PM on April 16, 2004

I don't think so, mr.marx, but you can check here. According to the bio, me and Vinnie share a bithplace.

I'm more of a Meshuggah and Nile man when it comes to the modern stuff and Motorhead, Raven and Saxon for the classics, but rock on brother.

Well put. Argh, I need a computer with a sound card that works NOW. I want to hear Norselaw so bad. Although, when it comes to funny black metal, I have a feeling that nothing beats Sportlov. But I suppose you have to understand swedish to fully appreciate their lyrics... posted by soundofsuburbia at 4:46 AM on April 17, 2004
¡°Why?¡± asked Larry, in his practical way. "Sergeant," admonished the Lieutenant, "you mustn't use such language to your men." "Yes," accorded Shorty; "we'll git some rations from camp by this evenin'. Cap will look out for that. Meanwhile, I'll take out two or three o' the boys on a scout into the country, to see if we can't pick up something to eat." Marvor, however, didn't seem satisfied. "The masters always speak truth," he said. "Is this what you tell me?" MRS. B.: Why are they let, then? My song is short. I am near the dead. So Albert's letter remained unanswered¡ªCaro felt that Reuben was unjust. She had grown very critical of him lately, and a smarting dislike coloured her [Pg 337]judgments. After all, it was he who had driven everybody to whatever it was that had disgraced him. He was to blame for Robert's theft, for Albert's treachery, for Richard's base dependence on the Bardons, for George's death, for Benjamin's disappearance, for Tilly's marriage, for Rose's elopement¡ªit was a heavy load, but Caro put the whole of it on Reuben's shoulders, and added, moreover, the tragedy of her own warped life. He was a tyrant, who sucked his children's blood, and cursed them when they succeeded in breaking free. "Tell my lord," said Calverley, "I will attend him instantly." HoME²Ô¾®¿Õ·¬ºÅѸÀ×Á´½Ó
